Effective Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Tartar And Plaque From Your Teeth

From our childhood we are being taught to maintain our oral hygiene. Brushing teeth twice a day, flossing and regular dental checkups form a basic part of oral hygiene. However improper brushing causes formation of plaque. When plaque gets hardened it forms tartar which gets stuck to teeth and sets deep into gums. Gum swelling, tooth pain and increased sensitivity are some of the common symptoms of plaque and tartar formation. #1. Baking Soda

The antibacterial properties of baking soda help to remove tartar and plaque and whiten teeth.  Baking soda acts as an antacid and restores the pH balance of mouth cavities. Take a 1 tablespoon of baking soda in a bowl and add a pinch of a salt to it and mix well.  Dip toothbrush in this mixture and scrub your teeth well with it. Rinse your teeth with lukewarm water. Follow this remedy every alternate day until tartar is completely removed. Once your teeth is free of plaque and tartar follow this tip once in 10 days.

#2. Aloe Vera And Glycerine Scrub

Aloe vera is packed with antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. Using aloe vera together with glycerine heals teeth and gums and removes free radicals produced by bacteria. Take 1 cup of water, add 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel, 4 teaspoons of vegetable glycerine, 4 to 5 tablespoons of baking soda and 10 drops of lemon essential oil to it. Mix all the ingredients well and scrub your teeth well with this solution. Rinse your mouth well. Initially follow this remedy once a day until tartar and plaque starts to reduce. Once plaque starts to reduce, follow it every 4 to 5 days until it is completely gone.

#3. Orange Peel

Orange peels are a natural way to whiten your teeth. Simply rub orange peels over your teeth for 2 to 3 minutes and rinse your mouth well. You can also make a paste of orange peel. Apply the paste on your teeth for 1 to 2 minutes and rinse well. Follow this remedy two to three times a week to get desired results.

#4. Sesame Seeds

Sesame seeds work as a natural cleanser for your teeth. They gently polish your teeth and help to remove tartar and plaque. Chew about a teaspoon of sesame seeds, do swallow and gently dry brush your teeth before throwing out the seeds from your mouth. Follow this trick twice a week.

#5. Figs

Another way to cleanse and strengthen your teeth and gums naturally is to eat figs. The process of chewing figs increases the secretion of saliva in your mouth which helps to reduce tartar and plaque in mouth. Chew 2 to 3 figs slowly after meals to cleanse them well. Follow this trick every day.

#6. Munch Fruits And Vegetables

Strengthen your teeth and gums and remove tartar and plaque by munching on fruits and vegetables. Munch on celery sticks, carrots, apples or musk melons after your meals to clean your teeth naturally.
